For some people the transition from December to January is just like the transition between any other two months of the year - nothing special. For others, the transition to a new calendar year marks the completion of an important time period in their life and the beginning of a new one. For these people, it's time to take stock of where they have been, what they have accomplished, what is still left undone, what they learned, where they want to go next, and what they will need to get there.
Which kind of person are you? There is no right or wrong, better or worse, but if you are the kind of person who likes to reflect at this time of year, consciously complete, and consciously create what is to come, then here are some questions which you may find useful.
Completing 2007
-
What were your greatest successes in 2007?
-
What else would you like to celebrate?
-
What would you like to acknowledge yourself for?
-
What are you grateful for about the year?
-
What was your biggest failure this year? What was disappointing? See if you can accept these fully.
-
What did you learn?
-
Overall, what was this year about for you (what's the title of this chapter in the book)?
Creating 2008
-
What will 2008 be about for you (the chapter title, the theme, or the metaphor perhaps)?
-
What intentions do you have for 2008? What do you want?
-
What one significant goal do you intend to accomplish in 2008? What other goals do you intend to accomplish in 2008?
-
Who will you need to be in order to accomplish those goals?
-
What have you learned that you want to put into use this year?
-
What support will you need?
-
What will your first steps be?
Make it a great year!
